About
The Supercat 67 was built specifically for her builders, so moreattention was devoted to the
designing, planning and conceiving of this boat than most others. Dennis Shultz, a well known name in the boat building industry specifically designed Sea Chant to be an expedition cruiser. Lightly used, Sea Chant has sailed the South East Coast of Southern Africa salvaging species of coral that had been damaged by commercial fishing practices. Dennis has built over 1000 boats in his career with many being deep sea fishing vessels built for the harsh conditions of the South African coast.
Designed to sail at wind speed with very efficient slim displacement hulls and a Carbon rotating wing mast, this boat has the ability to do 300+ miles per day - easily.
The boat was manufactured on a moldless construction basis where all materials used were cnc machined. The Internal Structures were manufactured using Epoxy / Glass / Marine Ply / PVC FoamSandwich Construction.
The Hull was formed using composite Carbon / Glass / PVC Foam / Epoxy as follows:
Composite strip planks were used to form the underwater body and sides of the hull.
These were pre vacuum molded, in full lengths, incorporating glass carbon UD fiber (25% Carbon)
along the full length of the boat.
Thereafter perpendicular 45 degree UD layers were wrapped around the hull, developing a fiber
matrix, without overlaps. The price to custom build a 67ft catamaran to this standard today would be astronomical.
She was conceived as a family boat, but due to business obligations the owners have not been able to make proper use of her.
The boat features anenclosed upstairs helmstation, which is partially sunken into the main cabin roof, with a structure tying it to the bridgedeck, allowing for lighter overall construction, an aero dynamic ride and incredible 360 degree panoramic views whilst under sail.
Simplicity is the the idea behind this build, systems are uncomplicated yet unique. Uncluttered spaces focus on ergonomics and maintenance is just a fraction compared to other vessels in her size and category.
An interesting concept, Sea Chant motors at speeds up to 17 knots. If the rig is removed this vessel can effortlessly become an efficient motor catamaran for expeditions that require fixed bridges.
With a beam of only 27.9 feet the options for haul and service are plenty. The portable fold up trailer used to haul out Sea Chant at her current location can be shipped easily and is up for discussion with the sale.
The opportunities are endless with a custom built catamaran of this pedigree!Lets discuss your ideas.
Selling features:
My wife and I worked with Andrew Hodgdon to sell our 2021 FP Elba 45. In addition to skillfully carrying out the traditional yacht broker responsibilities, Andrew went above-and-beyond to ensure that we were well-positioned to sell in a competitive market. For example, Andrew helped out with much-appreciated repairs and hurricane prep, among other things. Trustworthy, intelligent, and conscientious, Andrew’s communications with us and the buyer were always thoughtful and forward-thinking, and fairly represented our interests.
We really lucked out in connecting with The Multihull Company. We made a cold call to Cynthia Wummer, a Multihull Company broker and told her we wanted to buy a catamaran to cruise The Great Loop and experience the Bahamas. We particularly wanted a PDQ power catamaran. From our first contact she was so helpful and responsive. She immediately contacted a selling broker who represented a prospective seller. Because we are new to a bigger boat and boating on the ICW, Cynthia assisted us through the entire process. She is a captain which was an added bonus to the process; she knew all the right questions to ask the selling broker as well as the surveyor. She drove 3 hours to be present during the survey, she developed a good relationship with the selling broker, she called and checked in with us regularly, was very enthusiastic about our purchase, and answered all our questions. We could not have done it without her. The Multlihull Company support team, Andrew Holland and Courtney Greider, were so helpful in the closing process: the paperwork was easy to complete and communication was smooth and timely. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Multihull Company and Cynthia to anyone who is the market for a boat large or small. Thank you!!!!
