After an unforgettable cruising season in the BVI and surrounding Caribbean waters, they brought her to Fort Lauderdale in 2020 and embarked on a meticulous transformation. Their mission? To take an already agile and lightweight Schionning design and refine it into an elite performance cruiser that sacrifices nothing in comfort, efficiency, or handling.
The result: a dialed-in, high-tech, and adventure-ready catamaran, built for both bluewater passages and coastal cruising.
Masterfully Engineered for Speed & Efficiency
Unlike many production catamarans that trade weight for comfort, every enhancement on UNIVERSE was made with performance in mind—for every pound added, something was strategically removed. The hulls were extended for improved hydrodynamics, weight was carefully managed, and only the finest marine-grade, lightweight materials were used.
Built in the Netherlands by PreCat VOF, the hull features an Airex foam core and fiberglass construction, vacuum-infused with epoxy resin for maximum strength with minimal weight. Carbon fiber reinforcements, including cross beams and davits, further enhance rigidity without compromise. At the last haulout in Fort Lauderdale, the reported weight was just 8.4 metric tons, a testament to her lightweight efficiency.
