4Knots, a 1990 Hylas 51ft, is a true sailing vessel. She is fast and exceptionally well behaved under sail, as well as stable and comfortable at anchor. Her center cockpit provides comfort and safety. The side decks are wide, providing for easy unrestricted access to the foredeck and coach roof while underway. She is safe and has proven excellent sailing performance.

She is outfitted to cruise around the world. With 1305 total watts of solar, she has enough power to run the boat with a family of 4 including running 12 volt water maker, all on solar! She also has a 7.6 kw generator used for the washing machine and to top off the batteries on cloudy days.

In 2021, the Yanmar 76 HP Turbo Diesel was rebuilt. The rebuild was done at 3,800 hours, which means there are only 461 hours on the rebuilt engine! It was a complete rebuild - everything but the block was serviced or replaced. All pumps, turbo, mixing elbow, starter, alternator, injectors, etc. - all new. Also, the head was rebuilt and a new head gasket was installed. They work was done by a professional diesel mechanic.

The German Frers designed hull must be one of the best compromises when it comes to cruising hull design. Very comfortable for long distances, yet impressively performant for a displacement hull.

Working with Andrew Hodgdon at The MultiHull Company was a great experience. Andrew has years of experience in the multihull market, especially performence catamarans and was the Technical Director at Balance Catamarans for many years. He’s always available to talk, guide and advise. He’s easy to work with, is extremely knowledgeable, and has a very pleasant way about him. I would highly recommend Andrew to help in your sale or purchase of any multihull.
