About This Boat

RIPPLES II is a very clean 4 cabin Lagoon 440. Her current owners have sailed the Lesser Antilles over the last 5 winters and stored her on the hard for hurricane seasons in Antigua. They have maintained her in top shape and keep upgrading her. The standing rigging is two years old, the main and jib are from 2015, they installed a custom solar array. They rebuilt the saildrives (new cones, shafts and seals), replaced the roller furler, roller furler drum and headstay, replaced the fridge, and replaced the anchor and anchor chain this winter 2019. See the refit section for more details.

Her interior is looking great. Have a look at the walk-through video. The woodwork, veneers, floors and liners are very well preserved. This is a 220/12 V boat. She is equipped with a key feature: 4 x 220V 50-60hz air conditioning units from 2015. This means the aircon can run in the Caribbean or North America interchangeably.

She is currently in St. Martin and ready to sail.

SAILING HISTORY + OWNER COMMENTS

SAILING HISTORY

  • Ripples II was part of charter fleet of Antilles-Sail in Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe, 2006-2013 (8 years). Chartered with captain only
  • Feb 2014 – purchased in Guadeloupe, and have sailed in the Leeward and Windward islands in the Nov-June months (St.Martin to Grenada only)

OWNER COMMENTS

  • The large aft cockpit, which comfortably seats 8, and shaded with sun awnings, is the gathering area for eating, or just relaxing waiting for the sunset green flash and during the evening hours. The aft cockpit is protected by the rigid flybridge and solar panels that extend aft from the flybridge.
  • The forward cockpit is the preferred lounging location at anchor, where all crew can enjoy the trade breezes and late afternoon views of the islands and sunsets.
  • The raised helmsman position with centerline wheel has excellent visibility to all four corners of the boat and makes it easy to maneuver in tight situations in and around the marina and fuel docks.
  • The FlyBridge Helm with bimini, is the central area when sailing, with engine controls and all sail controls routed to the helm and easily accessed. Seating 6 persons comfortably, all crew enjoy 360 degree views above the seas while sailing and has been one of our favorite attributes of the 440.
  • Have thoroughly enjoyed our 4 seasons of sailing in the Leeward and Windwards and are now ready to move on to another location. Believe the boat is best located in the Leeward and Windward, given its excellent performance while sailing and comfort at anchorage (95% of the time). We have done Florida / Bahamas / BVI with previous boats, so see no need to visit those areas with this boat.
  • The Lagoon 440 catamaran, with its three (3) cockpit areas and expansive space is ideal for cruising the Caribbean and enjoying the multiple islands and calm anchorages, whether as a couple or with friends.
  • Inside, the large saloon provides 360 degree visibility, large dining table, forward facing navigation table, and large L-shaped galley with 3 sinks,  facing the aft cockpit with passthru and plenty of storage in the galley and under the saloon settee and bench. Two refrigerator/freezers ensure the crew is always well fed.
  • This 4-cabin layout provides 4 cabins each with it’s own private head equipped with Jabsco QuietFlush electric heads, showers with hot/cold water, and storage.
  • Forward cabins are doubles and aft cabins are larger beds with partial wraparound access. All have multiple hatches and fans for ventilation at anchor, and independently controlled air conditioning when connected to shore power.
  • Hulls have plenty of headroom and width giving an overall airy and comfortable layout.
  • Sailing performance is excellent, with regular speeds of 7-10 knots with 1-reef in the main, our typical sailing configuration during crossings to keep all crew happy and comfortable.
  • Anchoring the Lagoon 440, with a 35Kg main anchor, 60 meters of 10mm chain, controlled by a windlass remote forward, or via toggle switch at the helm is easy and straightforward. Raising the anchor, with twin engine controls, and the 1200W Windlass is just as easy.
  • Finally, with 500W of solar panels, smart solar panel controller and 840 AH AGM house batteries, Ripples II is essentially autonomous at anchor. No need to run engines to recharge the batteries, thus significantly cutting down on engine hours, maintenance, etc… and quiet times at anchor.
