Boat Details

About This Boat

Rumpelteazer has been in the Multihull Company family her entire life. She is a classic Catana 431 owner version built in the early 2000's for an American couple.   She was set up and wired for 110, but later enhanced to work on 220 as well.

The first time I surveyed her was in Texas, before her owner sailed her to Australia.  We sold her in Australia to her current British owner, who took Rumpelteazer to Singapore.  In April 2016, she set sail on a global adventure through Indonesia, across the Indian Ocean via Mauritius and Madagascar to the east coast of Africa, rounding the Cape of Good Hope to Capetown.  Then across the South Atlantic to St. Helena and making landfall on the South American continent in Brazil.  From here she turned Left and sailed down the coast of Argentina, round the Horn to cruise up the fjords of Chile.  She now rests in Costa Rica.  She's established her bonafides.

What is special about this boat is the great care and wisdom that have been lavished upon her by her owners. Her current owner replaced one of the Volvo 40 engines in 2009 before she left Australia, and in South Africa, replaced the other Volvo 40 in 2017. This accounts for the difference in her engine hours.  During the stopover in South Africa all of her standing rigging was replaced, and she also got an entire new set of sails.

As with all Catanas, she is beautifully appointed, very comfortable, and has excellent layout and flow.

She is a proven blue water voyager, ready to set out for anywhere in the world at short notice.  She has a super Northern Lights generator, Sat Com, and the complete inventory you would want on a world sailing catamaran.  For the buyer looking for a turn-key, upgraded, blue ocean catamaran under $360,000 I cannot think of any better choice than Rumpelteazer.

She is presently lying in Costa Rica for the hurricane season and can be surveyed and is offered for sail at this location.  If you have any questions about her after going over our careful listing, please let us know.
