About This Boat

Rare to the market, the Balance 601 is the big brother of the Balance 526, Winner of Import Boat of the Year in 2017 by Cruising World Magazine, as well as best multihull over 50 feet. The Balance 601 has a heritage of greatness in design and bullet proof construction. She is a purpose built, high performance, epoxy crafted expeditionary catamaran. Of the four launched to date, three are currently exploring the Indian Ocean and Indonesia. This particular yacht, Nexus, completed the WORLD ARC, leading every passage by a long shot and taking her owner and his family on a dream voyage of a lifetime. Balance Catamarans is currently completing the 5th Balance 60, to be launched in the next months in South Africa. The waiting list for the next version of this yacht is now 3 three years out, with a build cost over $2,300,000.

NEXUS is a proven offshore voyager, meticulously maintained and continually updated. She is comprehensively equipped and one of the best maintained yachts the Multihull Company has ever offered, at a very competitive price.

NEXUS was specifically designed for long distance, blue water cruising, with the speed, equipment and load carrying ability for long term voyaging in safety and comfort. Very much to her builders and owners credit, she still shows almost like new. She is strong and light with her Epoxy construction and robust rig, with an extensive inventory of recently updated sails for every point of sail. Her helm is covered and has a complete weather enclosure for improved safety by reducing fatigue on long voyages. She is well equipped with powered winches and furlers, with lines led to the helm, and can be easily handled by a couple. Her owners invested over $400K in the most comprehensive refit for world cruising we’ve seen on a yacht, as evidenced by her extensive specification list. Prior to the health issues that force this sale, Nexus underwent a second update to prepare her to go around again, with comprehensive maintenance and upgrades of her systems, and she is truly ready to go. She has extensive state of the art navigation and communication electronics, 580 gallon fuel capacity with comprehensive polishing and filtering systems, 380 gallon water capacity with 75gal/hour water maker, extensive safety and sail handling equipment, low maintenance interior and exterior, a large reliable generator with dual engine alternators for backup, an extensive solar array, and much, much more. She has a new 15.5 aluminum bottom tender with reliable 50 hp Yamaha power for longer range exploration of remote areas and a custom designed davit system to carry her with ease. She has a very comfortable interior and exterior with great cushions and standard sized Tempur- Pedic beds, and an expansive galley with extensive refrigeration and freezer capacity and storage for all of your gear. Easily one of the fastest, safest and most comfortable yachts for blue water cruising, she is ready to carry you to your own adventure of a lifetime.

The Balance 601 is a sort of high performance Toyota Land Cruiser. She is very fast, but her design focus was to carry massive loads and be tough enough to voyage anywhere in the world. In rough seas she has the clearance "to ride over the top" and is happy to sail in the 9 to 12 knots range all day long without being hard pressed, even while carrying every piece of cruising kit and toy imaginable. She has big spacious beds, a large gracious cockpit, a light filled main salon, as such that she could easily operate as a luxury charter yacht. But she sails too - so she is not be compared to condo cats or charter barges that are meant to sail in the protective waters of the BVI. If you have a yen to sail to the Aleutian Islands, or Indonesia, or into the Southern Ocean to see penguins, this is your catamaran!
