About This Boat

Norman Cross was a design engineer who turned his automotive and aerospace expertise to trimarans from 1968 until 1990.  His complete range of trimaran designs was very influential during the multihull renaissance and many boats were built from his plans during the 70's and 80's - especially on the West Coast.  Cross designs are beautiful and functional and perform well at sea.  They have been well tested and have made significant voyages on the Pacific and throughout the World.  Most Cross trimarans are constructed of cold molded double-diagonal plywood saturated in resin and sheathed in fiberglass and are slowly giving way to the ravages of time.  A very few later builds were constructed with Airex and Klegecell foam coring instead of double-diagonal plywood.  This is a foam core Cross 42.  She was constructed over 12 years by her Seller and has been enjoyed in the Pacific Northwest and on the Pacifc at large.  She took took her owner/builder on a 2-year voyage round the Pacific Gyre - Vancouver to Puerto Vallarta to Brisbane and then back via Hawaii.  She is currently at a private dock in the Gulf Islands for the Winter.  Photography is limited for now, but don't let that slow you down.  If you are shopping for a light, durable, and seakindly trimaran don't wait until Spring!  She can be easily accessed by ferry from Vancouver - just call or email to set it up.
