Her designer took what he learned from record setting trans-Atlantic single-handed racing trimarans and developed a fast weatherly cruising trimaran. Her first owner RAVED about her in Cruising World in 1990 after 30,000 miles at sea and weathering 40-50 knot gales in the Bay of Biscay. Her windward ability in a blow astounded him. Her stable acceleration off the wind and her ease of handling were amazing. He came to expect 200 mile days. The design was right on the money (contact me for the review).
Fast forward another two decades. Her current owner RAVES about her. She proved herself to him when she weathered a nearly 40 knot wind shift with all sail up and nobody at the helm. He scrambled on deck find her merrily making way at 22 knots and they have taken care of each other ever since. He writes to the designer, "Having sailed Damiana in up to 50 knot winds while seeing her just having fun, without showing any sign of instability, we want to thank you for this superb design. We receive so many compliments for the beauty of this vessel, but you are the real recipient!"
She's of very forward thinking construction. Read about her Airex foam cored, unidirectional glass, kevlar, and carbon fiber construction. She has a carbon fiber space frame built into her decks to take mast loads. She has carbon skinned beams. Her mast is diamond rigged for very tight sheeting angles. Her cutter rig balances her beautifully. The flare of her central hull creates an elegant comfortable living environment below and she's got all the cruising goodies. Damiana is looking for another cruising family to take care of. She is an amazing proven and well loved cruising trimaran that will enable you to take 200 mile days for granted. . .
