From its offices in the northwest corner of beautiful Prickly Bay on Grenada’s south coast, The Multihull Company offers a full -service brokerage facility at Spice Island Marine, operated by Associate Broker Gordon Forbes and his son Jaryd Forbes.“We could not be more pleased to enter into this partnership with Spice Island Marine,” Phillip Berman, President of The Multihull Company, announced at the time of the new partnership. “This is truly the ideal place for Gordon, Jaryd and TMC to manage the bulk of its southern Caribbean multihull sales. We have long wanted to expand our brokerage presence in Grenada to service the needs of our buyers and sellers and now this dream has come true.” Gordon began his professional career in 1966 as a pilot for BWIA, the largest airline operating out of the Caribbean, piloting
Boeing727’s and 707’s, accruing a total of 18,000 flying hours in his years of service. Despite the amount of time he spent in the air, he always found the time to sail extensively through the Windward Islands on his Lagoon 42, “Delphini”.
Having sailed since the age of twelve and wanting to begin a new chapter in his life after retiring from BWIA, Gordon completed a course in marine surveying at the SUNY Maritime College so that he could pursue a professional life in the maritime industry. After completion, he worked as a contract surveyor for Tsunami Marine Ltd under the guidance of long-time Naval Architect Courtney Lange.
Growing up in Trinidad & Tobago, Jaryd Forbes love of the sea began at a very young age. Travelling aboard his fathers vessel, Jaryd developed a thorough knowledge and affinity for crafts of all types as well as ocean faring.
With experience ranging from power to sailboats of all models and sizes, and assisting with pre-purchase surveys and deliveries, he possesses an intimate knowledge of his native Trinidad and the wider Caribbean in order to better serve TMC clients.
"Having done pre-purchase surveys for clients of The Multihull Company as a surveyor and noting the high standard of professionalism and integrity
that TMC always brought to the table, it is an honor for me to represent the company as an agent in the Windward Islands inclusive of Trinidad & Tobago,” Gordon said at the time of the announcement. “I believe my experiences as a catamaran owner, surveyor, and pilot will all come into play in work as a yacht broker and I look forward to sharing my expertise with buyers and sellers of multihulls.”
Ideally located just minutes from the airport, public transportation, shopping, entertainment, hotels and beaches, Spice Island Marine is a fantastic location for The Multihull Company’s exclusive focus on catamarans. The new wide travel-lift and storage facility will enable customers to haul catamarans for surveys, store catamarans for sale, or have repairs made through Boatworks. Together, the Marina and Boatworks offer a wide range of services to all multihull cruisers.
