Lorien is a rare "Family Version" Catana 471. She was sold new to a family in 2002 and they sailed her extensively in the Caribbean and South Pacific. She was later owned for a brief time by a shipwright who sailed her in Mexico, and is currently owned by a Canadian couple voyaging in the Caribbean. She has never been in charter as her low engine hours clearly reflect. Lorien is currently flying the Canadian flag and has Canadian duty paid, which is a big plus for any Canadian buyer. She will arrive at our Ft. Lauderdale office in mid-January of 2009. While she is in US waters s . . . more |

This is a beautiful owner version of the celebrated Catana 471. I have known this Catana for some time as her current owner bought her in New York in the Summer of 2007 and sailed her through the South Pacific and on to New Zealand with his family where she now awaits a new owner for further adventures. This is the consummate blue water performance cat: very high freeboard and bridgedeck clearance for comfortable, safe offshore work; daggerboards for windward performance; carbon rig with stainless shrouds and forestay for reliability; a high-tech hull constructed of PVC foam core/vynilester re . . . more

The 42S is a classic from the CATANA yard: fast, seaworthy, easy to sail shorthanded and very reliable. This cat outperforms most production catamarans, yet is easy to maneuver and to control in most conditions. The present owner is sixty years old and sails mostly alone with his wife. Speed on long downwind passages invariably averages over 160 nautical miles per day. On a broad reach, with winds over 12 knots, average speed exceeds 8 knots, often reaching 10 knots. Various owners have sailed the CATANA 42S at speeds above 20 knots. This owner has reached 15 knots with a boat fully equipped f . . . more

Major price reduction to NZD 950,000 July 25, 2008 This Freebird 50 catamaran is one of the finest production catamarans ever built. She was exhibited at the 1993 Southampton Boat Show, where she won the ‘Boat of the Show’ award. She was purchased at the show by her original owner, who then sailed her to the Canary Islands. From 1995 to 1998 the boat was in day charter service carrying deck passengers off the south coast of Tenerife. In late 1999, her original owner installed radar, SSB, GPS, generator and new sails. The Safari 50 was, for the most part, designed to serve as a super high performance day charter cat for Cape Town - taking out tourists on super high speed day sails. She is therefore modestly finished inside, super light, and lightening fast. The right buyer for her is either someone who wants to use her for day charter outside US waters, or who wants to take her and make her a spartan super high speed voyager with a bit of interior modification. She is very well built, light, and super strong. To learn more about her, contact Phil at TMC. I have inspected her while under construction in Cape . . . more

I recently viewed this pristine, owner version Lagoon 470 built at CNB (Chantier Naval de Bordeaux), world reknown for its maxi-yachts and the larger cats in the Lagoon line. A very exacting and experienced owner (his 5th yacht) called on a specialized contractor to fit a customized electrical system and electronics. Two independent Mastervolt chargers, Mastervolt inverter, Mastervolt alternator regulators - take a moment to review the state of the art electrical spec worthy of a 100 foot power yacht. This Catana 471 owner version was bought new by her American owner, and he sailed her each year about 5 or 6 months, then placed her on the hard. She spent her first years in the Caribbean and the last few seasons in the Med. She has been well cared for since day one, is cruise equipped, and has low engine hours. She is lying in the South of France, and can be shown by appointment through our French agent. Like most serious voyaging 471's she sports solar, water maker, and all the cruising gear you expect to find on a fine Catana. This is an elegant catamaran. She can be sailed with a minimum of fuss. Her mast is at the forward end of the cockpit - no need to go forward to work at the mast. Just furl the mainsail into her Z-Spar. Her headsails are also on furlers, her staysail self tacking, and managed with electric winches - no need to grind through tacks. Her 55 hp Volvo engines easily drive her at 8+ knots. As in her recent voyage through the Caribbean, Panama, Mexico, and up the West Coast, she takes care of her crew, moves well in both light and heavy airs, and is easily managed on deck by a couple. . . . more |

She's got all of the gear and systems one would expect for a world cruiser - solar panels, two autopilots, full electronics, SSB, Iridium Sat phone... New mast and standing rigging in 2005. Topsides and deck regelcoated in 2002 give her a very clean exterior and updated look. The starboard engine was replaced in 2000 and has 990 hours.
