Shuttleworth Tektron 40 - “Moondance II ”

Shuttleworth Tektron 40 - “Moondance II ”

John Shuttleworth is a legendary British catamaran designer. He created a series of designs for a Canadian company called Tektron, and a number of boats were built there, and they have been very successful hi performance sailors over the years. Moondance is a modified Tektron 35, she was extended 5 feet, fit for diesels, and has a bridgedeck saloon. This is an extraordinary performance cruising cat that averages high speeds in very nice comfort. This is a cat for someone who comes from a background that expects a boat to point well, sail off the wind well, and easily sail 200 plus miles a days on passage. The interior of the boat is very innovative, and surprisingly roomy and comfortable for living aboard.

Description:

Outstanding professional update of a Tektron Tek-35 that extends the transoms to 40 LOA and adds twin diesels, giving this beautiful Shuttleworth design greatly enhanced seakeeping and load carrying ability. A single raised helm gives 360 degree visibility. Single daggerboard design is improved with mini-keel on starboard (as approved by John Shuttleworth) to both protect the rudder and give extraordinary pointing ability. New Hydranet sails were used with Harken furlers to commonly achieve double digit speeds, all lines led back to cockpit and self-tacking jib for easy handling. The open deck of the original Tek-35 now has an enclosed dinette in the cockpit with soft windshields that can be zippered open. The helmsperson sits with a sliding window and a hard top over their head to stay dry and sun-free yet with an incredible view all around.

Port side forward, a spacious head has a custom 25 gal holding tank and a hot water shower. The Nav station is amidships with single bunks that convert to another double. The Port aft is a queen-sized cabin with lots of ventilation and storage.
Forward in the starboard hull is a large double cabin with a head and a sink. A generous galley runs amidships with pressurized filtered water, a 3 burner stove, and a 12 volt Isotherm Ref/freezer that runs 24/7 using 410 watts of solar power mounted on top of dinghy davits and the cockpit dinette. The aft portion of the starboard hull has a 6 person dinette, rear window modified to remain open during rainstorms.

On deck forward is a large trampoline with good access to the mast and cockpit. The helmsperson sits comfortably under the hardtop and behind sliding windows that are all supported by an anodized aluminum frame. The standing rigging is brand new as is the Garmin 740s GPS plotter/radar/depth sounder and an XM satellite antenna for weather offshore. Raymarine ST-60 instruments complete the package. Moondance is ready to do some seriously fast cruising in comfort.
