This Schionning 1480 Performance Cruiser is a nicely maintained version of this very well designed and popular catamaran series by Schionning Designs in NSW Australia. She was built in composite in 2008 in Thailand on the island of Ko Samui in Thailand at Yachting Siam Co.Ltd, by the Australian builder Kim Thomas as have many other Schionning catamarans.
"Evia Blue" is a fast and solid cruising platform with an 8 knot cruising speed and 20 knot capabilities. With daggerboards and high bridge deck clearance blue water passages are fast and comfortable. These performance oriented catamarans are a great value for their size, build quality, performance hence their cult following and enthusiastic owners.
The systems are easy to maintain and engine spaces have 360 degree engine access. The interior is spacious and practical with a super sized starboard aft shower stall / head compartment for the owners cabin and a proper workshop/storage area in the port aft hull which is very essential for world cruising. Forward in each hull to inboard are two queen size berths with the port forward hull having an additional head/shower and starboard forward in the owners cabin a very large walk in closet. The galley is up and to port with large deep sink and ample fridge, freezer counter space. The salon is to starboard with large settle and dining area.
On deck the owners have customized the davit /solar panel mounts with a very nice carbon composite structure cutting weight aft and creating a very finished integrated look for the solar panels rather than heavy SS steel davits with solar panels just bolted on. A very nice touch.
The rig is custom made for this hull and has more height than specified on the standard 1480. The aft section of the yacht was reconfigured for better access with cut away transoms and an extended hard top to name a few smart changes to the standard specification of the 1480. The owner has a full compliment of North Sails which includes a furling screecher. All the fittings are of the highest of quality from Harken.
The vessel is located in one of the finest cruising grounds in the world the Andaman Sea in SE Asia and an hour flight from Bangkok. The owner is moving on to a larger Schionning 1650 which clearly speaks volumes about the design. Well maintained by her experienced owners a full comprehensive post cruising refit has just been completed tending to the needed maintenance and repairs making her a turn key purchase and ready to go. International shipping is available to ports worldwide.
