Little Wing is a high-tech, performance catamaran with stunning lines. She was built at SHAW BOATS in Washington state in carbon, glass epoxy laminate with kevlar reinforcements at critical areas under the waterline. She sports a GOETZ carbon fiber mast that culminates at 80 feet above the waterline with Dyform rigging, composite chainplates and a carbon bowsprit. Carbon rudders and carbon daggerboards on a WHITLOCK differential steering system keep this stiff platform on the straight and narrow. At 28+ feet she is one of the beamiest and stable cats in her class. A complete wardrobe of new (2013) QUANTUM Carbon TT composite sails including mainsail, genoa and gennaker leave no doubt as to her agenda; Little Wing is a sailor's cat. She won all three legs of the Baja Haha Rally to Cabo San Lucas in 2001 and has illustrated herself in the Heineken Regatta and other Caribbean rendezvous more recently.
She is powered by twin YANMAR diesels (new 54HP on port installed November 2013 and 48 HP on stb) equipped with stainless 1 inch shafts and stainless struts pushing twin 18 inch Maxprops with Lasdrop seals - a simple, low maintenance set-up that is ideal for cruising in remote locations.
Her interior is finished in warm teak, cherry wood veneers and white lacquered panels. She has a very spacious salon with a leather covered couch, a large forward-facing navigation area and a spacious L-shaped galley with sliding pass-through window to the cockpit area. Two aft cabins with queen beds, two forward cabins with doubles and one bathroom/head in each hull. The master bath on the starboard side includes a separate walk-in shower.
Little Wing has just completed a very extensive refit. The highlights include new interior paint and varnish throughout, interior completely rewired, all new salon windows and hatches, new composite hard-top bimini with rain-water catchment system, three new QUANTUM carbon composite sails and Sunbrella stack-pack, new SPECTRA watermaker 16GPH, new ADLER BARBOUR refrigeration, 2 new SILENT WIND wind generators, new XANTREX inverter/charger, new 800AH house batteries, new Sunbrella cockpit cushions, dodger and curtains, new YAMAHA outboard and the list goes on.
