The Jaguar 36 is an excellent bluewater sailor that offers the best cockpit and interior volume in class (34-39 foot range). She has a clever owner version layout (3 cabin/2 head) with a huge master to starboard.

This Jaguar 36 BABSEA has proven herself offshore in the Atlantic and around the Caribbean - see the detailed sailing history below. After nearly ten years of voyaging, the owners are ready to turn her over to new owners for more adventures.

BABSEA has a nice line-up of equipment and comfort amenities including watermaker, fridge and freezer, corian countertops, SSB, solar and portable generator. She is a go anywhere boat with ICW friendly 53 foot mast. An upgraded hard-top bimini gives easy access to the mainsail and provides more space for the solar array.

A fantastic package in a compact yacht that truly goes offshore. Call us to arrange a showing today.

  • We commissioned Babsea to be built during the St Pete's Boat Show in 2003 after sailing on hull # 1 of the new Jaguar series.
  • Before signing the final papers we flew to Durban, South Africa to inspect the factory of the builder: CharterCats LTD, SA
  • There were several boats in different stages of completion and everything looked very good. Quality work!
  • The following year in 2005 we again flew to Durban, rented a small flat so
we could physically be present during the construction phase and visited the
factory twice daily where we could customize, delete, add and inspect the
    work being done.
  • May 2005 she was finally launched in Durban and with a local Captain who
knew the waters between Durban and Cape Town, we sailed Babsea around the
Cape of Good Hope and arrived June 21, 2005 in Cape Town.
  • Every new boat needs some tweaking and ours was no exception. She was hauled out and additional work began in CharterCats factory then, in Cape Town.
In November 2005, she was commissioned: We had been sailing her for practice
around Robben Island when she wasn't being worked on and after provisioning
for an ocean sail, we regretfully left Cape Town for St. Helena Island and
onto Brazil. Friends flew down to enjoy the sails from Brazil, Trinidad and
Tobago, the Island Chain through the Mona passage to Cuba, Florida, The
Eastern Seaboard to New York, and finally to the North Channel of Lake Huron
where Babsea was flagged Canadian and Licensed 410353.
  • In September 2006 we left Ontario and sailed to Chicago, to the Mississippi River and down the Tenn-Tom Waterway system to the Gulf of Mexico. We hauled her in Pensicola, Florida for her first bottom job, as we planned to sail to Cuba, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, the Columbian Islands and onto Panama.
  • This took us approximately 7 more years to complete having met wonderful cruisers along the way. We sailed her from Panama back to Cuba and Florida where she has been since 2015. Her 5th bottom job was done in 2015.
  • She is for sale regrettably due to the health of her owners.  She is a seaworthy vessel which has never failed in all of our journeys in 10 years.  She was our only home for many of those years. She docks well, sails very comfortably especially with the spinnaker and is very spacious inside with an abundance of storage.
  • Her name Babsea comes from an Afrikkans nickname "Babsie" which means Dear One.
