If you are looking for speed at a rock bottom price, look no further, as Sonamara is truly a rocket ship that has been lovingly equipped for a world voyage. She was built by the famed French builder, Chantier Marc Pinta, in the West of France, in 1988 from the finest materials. Four of these rocket ships were built during this time, but three of them were pretty much stripped out racing boats or later became day charter cats. Not so with Sonamara, as she was designed from the start to serve as a personal voyaging boat, as such that her layout, equipment, and interior fit out are set up for a family or couple to complete a circumnavigation. The story behind Sonamara is that she has been owned by the same couple since 1990 and has never seen a day of charter. Very sadly, a careful refit of her was done about three to four years ago as her owner was preparing to set off from the Caribbean to the South Pacific. He contracted cancer and died some months back, and his wife simply does not have the skills or desire to continue sailing her. I think Sonamara is just ideal for an experienced beach cat or catamaran sailor who wants to live and voyage around the world on a super high speed cat. She is easily capable of doing in excess of 20 knots under sail and will happily knock off 240 mile days with ease. I really love this boat, and she is listed at a price to sell. She is presently in Curacao, but will be moved shortly to our facility in Trinidad to get a new bottom job and will remain there on the hard until she is sold. Please call me to discuss this special catamaran. |
